Cotswolds Radio – Born to be Herd

The following post was provided by friend of Cotswold Collective, Cotswolds Radio.

Cotswolds Radio is a community radio station run entirely by volunteers of all ages – from under 8 to over 80.  We broadcast music 24/7 and feature a schedule of over 30 shows from our studio at The Old Prison in Northleach covering a host of topics – all kinds of music, gardening, beauty, chat, local news and history, culture and the arts, sports and of course our popular daily Breakfast Show.
We are passionate about encouraging everyone to share our love of radio. Our motto is “In the Community, For the Community, By the Community” and we get particularly excited about our work with young people to develop their skills and self-confidence.  Our youngest presenters are at primary school, and over a dozen of them take turns to present the Saturday Club show which goes out at 5pm on Saturdays in term-time.
This year, two students have volunteered for their Duke of Edinburgh’s Award with us. We have also worked with The Cotswold School to set up a satellite studio and radio club at the school, and students are self-sufficient in producing weekly lunchtime shows. We also support adults in developing shows about their passions and have trained over 40 people in radio production.
As a not-for-profit company, we rely on the support of our volunteers, grants and sponsorships to fund our running costs. Many of our shows are sponsored, and for a modest monthly donation, we include sponsor logos on show publicity and record adverts which run during shows and through our 24/7 broadcasts.  Sponsors can also opt to be interviewed on their chosen show.
Although we’re focussed on our local community here in the Cotswolds, as an internet-based station, listeners can (and do!) tune in from anywhere in the world either through our website, Alexa or our Apps.  We also offer a catch-up service through the App and a library of past shows is available on MixCloud.
If you would like to get involved with Cotswolds Radio, we love hearing from local businesses either as potential volunteers, guests or sponsors. Get in touch with us on contact@cotswoldsradio.com to find out more.
