Cotswold Collective’s 24 hours in Cirencester

The Capital of the Cotswolds is the jewel in Gloucestershire’s Crown packed full of hidden gems.

No morning would be complete without a brisk walk in the beautiful Cirencester Park. It’s a dog walkers paradise and particular mention must go to the stunning Cecily Hill that preludes the Cirencester Park entrance. There is something captivating about the quintessentially chocolate-box houses and flower bed front gardens.

All that walking makes hungry work, we recommend stopping off at Roots + Seeds Kitchen Garden. Located in The Old Kennels at the heart of Cirencester park they serve a modern, fresh, seasonally changing Farm to Fork menu, and if you don’t fancy dining in-house their newly opened Deli offers a more on-the-go vibe.

TOP TIP: Check out Lily Antiques next door to the Deli, a curated collection of antiques and modern art, ceramics, and decorative homewares with a focus on pieces all handcrafted by artisans past and present

A day in Cirencester would not be complete without heading down Blackjack Street in town. This street conjures up Diagon Alley vibes, there’s a certain magic in the air, and the hotchpotch of shops are a joy to explore. One particular favourite of ours has to be the Cotswold Plant House run by Jules in The Stable Yard, here you’ll discover an independent house plant shop packed with plants, pots and more – you can even make your own terrarium! From there it’s just a natural progression to the Corinium Museum, stepping back in time to discover Cirencester’s rich Roman History.

One sight you can’t miss is the iconic St. John Baptist Parish Church, an institution since the 1100s which has recently undergone a stunning renovation. Just around the corner is the Abbey Grounds Park which boasts a Roman Town Wall and riverside walk. But before heading to the Park a visit to Ecoable for all your sustainability needs should definitely be on the cards. Owner Dani Seatter is on a mission to help you replace single use plastics with tried and tested sustainable products and she just happens to be a multi award winning author of two eco children books with her latest one about to launch ‘About Hedgehog,’ a book about grief for young children.

Cocktails in a sunlit garden or a little pre-theatre dining at Teatro could be next on the agenda, with Cirencester home to the Barn Theatre, which has a packed schedule of entertainment.

TOP TIP: Head to Teatro on a Friday or Saturday night and you’ll be treated to live music in the Piano Bar

All this not enough for you adrenaline junkies or owners of young teenagers? Well then you can’t beat Combat Splat, located in the Cotswold Waterpark, Cirencester’s answer to paintball for every age and every occasion!

Now that’s a packed 24 hours, need somewhere to rest your weary head? Ingleside House is the epitome of luxury.

The Captial really is a treasure trove and don’t forget Cotswold Collective Members are spoilt for choice with all their membership perks saving you discounts even the Romans would shake a spear at!
